LEARN TO SAIL 2010 Program: July 5th  to August 20th 2010
Each week:- ½ day sessions - morning or afternoon and full day sessions

Who can attend ?
Juniors & adults 8 years of age and up,
who are able to swim 50 yards fully clothed while wearing a life-jacket.

What do I learn ?
The sailing curriculum of the program follows Canadian Yachting Association Standards.
Certificates in White Sail Levels I, II, III & Bronze Sail Levels IV & V will be offered to
successful candidates. It is recommended that candidates for White Sail II & above register for 2
or more weeks, to obtain necessary "on the water" experience. Learn boat handling, sail trim,
knots, sailing terms, capsizing, water safety and rigging.

Who are the instructors?
Canadian Yachting Association qualified instructors will teach all courses

When and where are sessions held ?
The Sailing School begins Monday July 5th and runs until Friday August 20th, 2010
                        Half-day  sessions 3 hours a day, 5 half-days a week (15 hours per week)  9am to 12 noon or  1pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
                                      Full-day sessions 6 hours a day. (30 hours per week 9am 60 4pm, Monday to Friday
Instruction is in Albacore, Optimist,  420 or Mistral dinghies. Sessions are held at the Collingwood
Harbour, a well protected body of water allowing for maximum & safe on the water experience.

What should I bring ?
Be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Bring a sun hat, sun screen block(25), rain gear, soft soled or water shoes, a change of clothes, and an approved life-jacket. Be prepared for capsize drill at any time. Capsize drills  usually occur on Tuesdays.



Tell me more about the boats I'll be sailing.
Dinghies range in length from 7.5 feet suitable for one small person to 16 feet for 4 persons.
The smaller boats have one easily managed sail and the larger boats have 2 sails.
Some boats also have spinnaker gear.
Boats are matched to the experience and needs of the students.
